About the Site
Web Stylee provides free web site templates in standard HTML/CSS format as well as Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal formats. Provided with these freely downloadable and usable themes is a demonstration site where users can see the themes in action in their respective CMS’s. These demonstration CMS installations all include a theme switcher that can be used to quickly peruse the various themes. Where viable, we're also providing theme demonstrations catered to the particular themes and/or theme categories such as minimalist themes and church themes.
About the Themes/Templates
The themes, or templates, available from this site are designed predominantly using the excellent Artisteer template generator software. The themes are tailored to specific needs and then written to the various formats available within Artisteer. Slight modifications are made for fine-tuning purposes and the resulting ZIP packages are uploaded here and made available from within the theme switcher plug-ins within the various CMS installations on this site.
At the moment, as Artisteer only handles Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal and standard HTML/CSS themes, only those format themes are provided here. Given that the HTML/CSS versions of these themes are provided, it should be relatively easy to port the themes to different CMS’s, which is definitely encouraged here.
The Purpose
There are several reasons for opening yet another of the nearly infinite list of template web sites. We're attempting to address specific issues we've had in the past with regard to template web sites.
First of all, though there are numerous ports of themes from one CMS to the next, they’re not done on a consistent basis and ports of themes that one might very much want may not be available. With this site, a key focus will be in making themes available for as many CMS’s as possible, including even the standard HTML/CSS format which can easily be used as a basis for porting the themes to an unsupported CMS.
Second, it’s not quite so easy to find free CMS themes tailored to very specific needs, one being themes for church web sites. Most small churches will likely desire a simple, uncomplicated theme with little graphical flare to emphasize the content while larger churches may want a more corporate appeal to the site. Both of these types of themes will be offered here along with other themes tailored to perhaps more uncommon circumstances.
Many CMS themes require users to keep the link-backs to the author’s web sites intact in the theme. This is often very undesirable as it might possibly detract the visitor’s attention from the site’s material, especially where the link-backs are very noticeable. Another issue proceeding from this is that such link-backs might include information on which CMS is being used by the site, giving malicious visitors a starting point for finding a security hole. The free themes here require no such link-backs, but only require that the license.txt file included in the zip file is kept intact.
Finally, with this site and accompanying forum, we'll attempt to accommodate requests for themes from our visitors and users. The scope of this will, of course, be limited to some degree since we're making such theme requests available across CMS's, but we can guarantee we'll try to provide the best themes we possibly can given our limitations.
